Home Gym Assembly: A Checklist Before the Rack Arrives
Smith machines, power racks and functional trainers are the heaviest things we build, and the ones people most often order without measuring.
Measure your ceiling first
Most full racks need 90 to 96 inches of clearance, plus room to press overhead. Garages with low-hanging door tracks are the usual problem — a track relocation is cheaper than returning a rack.
Protect the slab
Put down rubber flooring before assembly, not after. Once the rack is loaded with plates you are not sliding a mat underneath it.
Plan the delivery
Freight drops at the curb. A single rack can arrive as five 150-pound boxes. Have a plan, or have us there on delivery day.
Torque matters
Every bolt on a loaded rack gets torqued and re-checked. We re-tighten the frame after the first full assembly pass, because the frame settles as it comes square.
